Aikido for Seniors

This class is designed to use the principals of Aikido, a Japanese martial art, to increase confidence, balance and body coordination. We will use a short staff or walking stick to help focus on stance and footwork. As we continue through the summer sessions, we will be adding 'bokken' or wooden sword to our curriculum to further body awareness and posture. Learning individual training exercises will also work your memory. Students will increase their awareness in defensive situations in a safe learning environment. You will not be getting down on the floor.

Winter/Spring Sessions 2026:


JAN 28, 2026: NO CLASS TODAY. EVEN THOUGH THE SENIOR CENTER IS OPEN AT NOON, THEY HAVE ASK THAT THERE BE NO CLASSES BEFORE 1PM. WE WILL MAKE UP THE CLASS ON FEB 18. BE SAFE, SEE YOU NEXT WEEK.


Session 1: Jan 7 thru Feb 11 (Wed 12:30-1:50 PM)


Session 2: Feb 25 thru Apr 1 (Wed 12:30-1:50 PM)


Session 3: Apr 15 thru May 20 (Wed 12:30-1:50 PM)
